After a simple 40 degree wash  the knitted stitches disappear,  and soft seamless felt hearts are created.

Felt Heart String

The art of Knitting, Issue 35

These felt hearts are addictive to make, and a great way to use up any left over felting yarn.

Felting is such an easy technique and these little hearts are an ideal first project.

If you are impatient to get to the felting stage quickly, theses hearts are just right, It only took me a couple of evenings to knit a string full.

Each heart is knitted in one piece, and using  a clever bit of seaming becomes heart shaped and ready to fill  with hi-lift poly fibre toy stuffing.

Do take care when you stuff them, use only a very little stuffing  because they shrink in the wash and compress the fibres. If overstuffed they can’t shrink!
